It’s time to dress up again
If the pandemic has taught us anything it's that we need to re-focus on wearing clothes that make us feel confident yet comfortable. We’re all looking forward to spending time again with friends and family, but what about meeting new people?
As daunting as it may seem, meeting new people is exciting! Have we forgotten what to wear on a date? Has our lifestyle or style personality changed in the past year?! I’m here to clarify what to wear on your next upcoming date.
First things first, have a look in your closet and see what you already have. Ask yourself, do your clothes still fit and do you still like them? If you do, then the next step is to see what you can pair it with. If you answered no and no to above then it’s time to scout for the perfect outfit.
The second question you should ask yourself is where the location will be. Is it outdoors or indoors? Is it a casual or fancy place? The answers to these questions will make things easier when getting dressed.
After-Work Date:
If you’re both coming from work then it’s completely okay to stay in your work clothes. But, I do recommend switching up a few of your pieces. If you’re wearing flats, opt for a statement heel or heeled boots. If most of your neutral day lipstick has faded, switch over to a bold red or plum lip. Statement coats are another great way to up-level your style, pair your work pants with a blazer, denim, leather jacket or trench coat.
Pumpkin Patch/Corn Maze
Look for your favourite fall skirt or denim pants and pair them with a cozy sweater. For shoes, you can wear a pair of sneakers or boots.
Movie Date
Movie date outfits can be tricky because you don’t want to be too casual or dressed up - try to be a bit of both. Go for a t-shirt, cami, pants, or jumpsuit. Don’t forget to bring a light cardigan or jacket if you tend to get cold. Try to stay away from jeans if the movie is a few hours long, for some, it can feel constricting.
Stroll at the park
Look for any casual outfits in your wardrobe. Pair a t-shirt with your favourite lightweight jacket with jeans or leggings. If you’re going bike riding, make sure your clothes are comfortable and stretchy. You can play around with your activewear clothes.
Fancy Dinner Date
Pull out those dresses you’ve been holding onto! The most popular colours to wear on a date would be red, black, blue and white. These colours represent passion, elegance and loyalty. If you don’t want to wear a dress look into wearing silk or a satin skirt with your favourite sweater.
